The Caller – DVDRip (2009)

Formidable New York City corporate exec Jimmy Stevens (Langella) knows his days are numbered in the international global energy business. After witnessing mass executions of “locals having trouble understanding us” in Latin America, he turns whistle-blower on the company’s corrupt practices and, thereby, signs his own death warrant. Using a voice concealment device, he calls a private detective, Frank Turlotte (Elliott Gould), and hires him to keep an eye on him until his anticipated demise. But the bewildered, bird-watching detective has no idea who has hired him and why he’s being paid so much to spy on “boring” Jimmy Stevens, who leads a life of almost complete isolation, haunted by the memory of a W.W. II childhood trauma in France’s Normandy woods during a German aerial bombardment – and an overwhelming fear of dying alone.
